James Buckley as Nevi in Orphan 55. Far right: Yaz (Mandip Gill), the Doctor and Ryan (Tosin Cole), amongst the protesting crowd in Nikola Tesla’s Night of Terror
One of the fearsome Dregs.
Every season needs at least one proper, ocean-going dud, and this year that unfortunate distinction falls to Orphan 55. It’s a story that, for me, was dead on arrival as soon as I heard the words “resort planet” – surely the biggest eye-roll in the sci-fiplaybook. Tonally it’s all over the map, and, unusually for modern Doctor Who, it also looks under-resourced in key departments.
