Jeremy’s Skybase wall design - of interlinked triangles with circular ‘nodes’ - was based on NASA concepts and created a regular hexagon e. ect with a 220mm edge repeat pattern. “I designed a PVC moulding and it was used by lots of other designers afterwards,” he explains. “I think Blake’s 7 was one.”
Indeed, the wall design reappeared many times in Servalan’s Space Command o. ce, and in such episodes as City at the Edge of the World (1980). “It was from a company based at Pinewood who had a whole catalogue of PVC mouldings that people bought in to use on television settings. I made a completely new design and got them to make it, and then after that it belonged to them.” The panel is still available from the scenic supplies company Peter Evans Studios, now based in Bedfordshire. Item E014 is produced in square metre panels in vac-formed plastic, heavier ABS plastic or glass . bre.
Doctor Who reappearances included The Horns of Nimon (1979-80), Meglos (1980) and Adric’s TARDIS bedroom during 1982’s Season 19, inherited by Turlough in Terminus (1983). Other shows making use of Jeremy’s panels included The Adventure Game (1980), Captain Zep - Space Detective (1983-84) and even the ITV shows Astronauts (1981-83) and Luna (1983-84).
