I've always been intrigued by Marilyn Monroe and her brief, dysfunctional, but fascinating life. As a Marilyn admirer since the 1970s, and a miniaturist since 1983, it seemed obvious for me to create something in miniature related to Marilyn.
Marilyn’s Mansion is made from a Real Good Toys Foxhall Manor kit measuring 63 ½”W x 34”H x 24”D. Adding the front porch increased its depth by 4 ½”. The kit is intended to be front opening and back accessible. The front bays were permanently attached while the front porch is removable, allowing for easier transport. It took two years to complete (minus a few accessories).
Not a replica of any of Marilyn’s homes, it is a fantasy of how she lived, incorporating many of Marilyn’s favourite things.
