We already know from Splatoon’s in-game lore that it takes place in a far-flung future, but the announcement of a third game put that fact front and centre. Alongside a new bow for long-distance redecorating and an adorable – and customisable – companion, the big reveal was that we’re saying goodbye to Inkopolis. Enter the Splatlands: a ravaged desert region where, among the detritus of extinct humanity, we glimpse an upturned Eiffel Tower. At its heart is Splatville, the ‘City of Chaos’ – confirmation that Nintendo is adhering to the result of Splatoon 2’s final Splatfest, in which Order was narrowly defeated.
