5 Echo Puts The Pedal To The Metal
AND JUMP-STARTS A GRITTIER VERSION OF THE MCU
ECHO
OUT 10 JAN
A lot of heads get cracked onto a lot of surfaces in Echo. It’s been a shaky year for Marvel Studios, but as 2024 kicks off, so too does this ultra-violent revenge drama — on every level. It looks to be the MCU’s freshest — and most certainly bloodiest — bit of work in a long while.
This will be a brutal, bone-snapping escapade. Having met the uncompromising Tracksuit Mafia boss in 2021’s Hawkeye, we are now reintroduced to Native American deaf vigilante Maya Lopez (Alaqua Cox), last seen at the end of that show shooting Wilson Fisk’s Kingpin (Vincent D’Onofrio) point blank, despite him being her uncle — of sorts. Their backstory and relationship is explored in Echo, shining a light on their history, when she was a kid, and post-Hawkeye, as he, new eyepatch and all, faces up to who — and what — she has become.
