The brand new issue of FlyPast features one of Britain’s best-loved warbirds as its cover star, Duxford-based Boeing B-17G Flying Fortress ‘Sally B’. In an exclusive interview, editor Chris Gilson speaks to Elly Sallingboe, the woman behind the extraordinary fame of this airshow favourite – now the only flying B-17 in Europe. This issue also pays tribute to the Mighty Eighth – we look back on the USAAF deployment to the UK during World War Two with a series of exclusive features.

WING TO WING
Darren Harbar presents a special article on air-to-air flight experiences, and a handy guide to getting airborne alongside historic aircraft in the UK.

AIRSHOW
The UK airshow season is upon us. We visit memorable events at Duxford and Cosford.

LINCOLN SPOTLIGHT
Our regular Spotlight section focuses on the Avro Lincoln, a direct successor of the more famous Lancaster and an essential presence in the early years of the Cold War.

SABRES TO ITALY
An F-86 Sabre pilot reflects on the task of ferrying the jets to bases in Italy.

LUFTWAFFE IN COLOUR
A portfolio of rare colour images showing the Luftwaffe in action within World War Two’s Mediterranean theatre.

We also check out Temora’s treasures – a visit to the warbird museum at Temora in Australia should be on any enthusiast’s must-do list if they happen to be ‘down under’, as it’s home to numerous exciting flying machines. A report from the growing collection at Ulster is also included, while historian Andrew Thomas delves into the remarkable journal of a World War One fighter pilot. Plus, we bring you news of a Mosquito that’s moving to a new home in the UK.

Digital subscription for Flypast magazine

I have purchased the Flypast magazine for many years and generally as a hard copy. However, for the last couple of years l have subscribed annually to the digital version and now read on my iPad.
The magazine is great and I always find the content interesting and varied and never bored with the topics covered. Whilst previously enjoying the hard copy l am now a devoted digital subscriber and would recommend this version. On the downside you miss out on add ons such as calendars etc.
