Welcome to the September 2025 issue of Grow Your Own magazine!

Here we are in the peak harvesting season in the edible garden, and what a treat it is! However, it can be overwhelming to bring home trugs and trugs of fruit, veg and herbs with seemingly limited time to do anything with them – but fear not, we are here to help! We have some fantastic and simple ideas for preserving those delicious tastes of summer right through the cooler months (page 56).

There are still crops we can get in the ground now, though – see a run down on page 68, as well as some in-depth focuses on spring cabbage (page 24), growing peas in a drainpipe (page 42) and a fantastic variety of autumn radish (page 64).

Our brilliant experts are celebrating all that is great about the season, with Mark Lane showing us through his garden gates (page 10), Rekha
Mistry appreciating the bounty of the small space (page 34), and Simon Akeroyd adding asparagus to his flavour garden (page 53).

We are also helping solve some common garden issues – from ripening problems (page 52) and potato rots (page 73) so you can stamp out issues as they arise.

We hope you enjoy the issue and have a productive month!
