the back page interview
What’s your favourite treat? Sunday dinner at my parents. My dad will cook a roast dinner with Yorkshire puddings and vegetables. Having two young children, I’m very aware of the dangers of attaching feelings to food. For us, nothing is ‘of-limits’ – we don’t threaten that ‘you can’t have your pudding if you don’t eat your dinner’. Instead, we try to make sure that food is kept away from emotions, as it can lead to unhealthy habits as an adult.
What’s your relaxation of choice? We always have a family holiday at the end of my racing season in October. But until then, we ind time each day to chill out and make sure we’ve got the energy to start at full speed again tomorrow. As a family, we’ve always been very outdoorsy. If we’re not out and about, we’re in the garden, just hanging out and enjoying the fresh air.
