It wasn’t just the cameras that were on dazzling form at the opening of a new exhibition that celebrates Dolly Parton’s glittering career – via her over-the-top wardrobe. The country singer was guest of honour at the preview of Dolly Parton and the Makers: My Life in Rhinestones at Lipscomb University in Nashville (right and below right), where she told the crowd: “I do think there’s so much to be said about being comfortable: in your own clothes, in your skin, or whatever.”
A companion to Dolly’s book Behind the Seams: My Life in Rhinestones, which tells the stories of some of her favourite outfits, the exhibition features 25 of her most striking looks. It also spotlights the designers and makers who brought them to life.
