I found our home completely by chance

Anna took up a ‘really disgusting’ carpet and had the floors sanded and treated with wood protector, then removed a wall-mounted gas fire and added French windows onto the garden
In a twist of fate, Anna Monpote’sdream house came back on the market and, not about to let it go twice, she bought it the next morning!
Welcome to my home
A bit about me
I’m Anna Monpote and I live with my partner Mat and our two children, Kitty, six, and Rafferty, two.
Where I live
Our home is a 1920s mid-terrace with three bedrooms.
What I wanted to change
The house had been owned by the same family since it was built in 1926 and they hadn’t done a lot with it, so there was a lot to update!
How I made it my own
We wanted to be sympathetic to the original fixtures but also update and modernise. We kept most of the house very airy with white walls and light colours, however, we painted the living room black!
My favourite part
I like that the cooker is in the middle of the kitchen/diner so that I can interact with the kids while they play or do homework.
Living room
‘We wanted to paint the living room black in our last property but hadn’t quite got the nerve, so we decided to go for it this time. It looks so effective and I love the way it makes colours stand out. We went for dark sofas as they work really well against the walls; I think any other colour would have been too much of a contrast and make the room look busy. The blue chair was my Grandpa’s, which I recovered in a Designers Guild fabric.’
