THE JOY OF COLOUR
There’s a lot of freedom in reaching an age when you don’t give two hoots what people think. It’s like that poem by Jenny Joseph which says, ‘When I am an old woman I shall wear purple, with a red hat which doesn’t go’. Well,
in my case (or possibly, my midlife crisis…), I’ve painted my living room yellow, which may or may not go with the leather sofas. The Family Richmond raised a collective eyebrow. Don’t care. The yellow makes me happy and the sofas are comfy (and, more importantly, nieceproof). Bold talk from a woman whose default paint choices for at least a decade have been Crown’s Sail White and Antique Cream, with a bit of Dulux’s Natural Hessian thrown in. Don’t get me wrong, the journey wasn’t without angst, but it was fun. This issue is dedicated to colour, so if you’re tempted to get out of neutral, the rainbow of ideas will be hard to resist!
