“Defund the BBC!” “Don’t pay the licence fee!”
Some people have got in a right tizzy recently over the BBC. Now we all know that Aunty Beeb has made mistakes left, right, and centre, and could and should be doing much, much better when it comes to making TV programmes we all want to watch. I’m not going to defend them for one minute. But, when all’s said and done, they are the BBC. No matter how bland the comedy has got because of compliance issues in the wake of Jonathan Ross’s and Russell Brand’s Andrew Sachs-gate, no matter how much they grind Doctor Who into the dirt, the BBC and the Licence Fee is still worth keeping.
