At the same time as I was checking in our flights online to Bordeaux, the Brexit talks were opening in Brussels. Just as we prepare to become continental holidaymakers again, enjoying our status as European citizens, the lunatic Tories are yanking us out of the club, returning the UK to the sad stereotype of monolingual, backward-looking primitives.
It’s already costing more because of the fall of the pound. The credit ratings agencies are beginning to fret about Britain’s financial robustness. Remember when independence would threaten the value of sterling and Scotland’s credit rating would fall? Don’t hear the Unionists banging on about it now, do you?
