Any attempt to summarise the wines produced in the south of the Italian peninsula in just few paragraphs is a pretty tall order. Within the regions that we’d classify as ‘south’ (anything below Tuscany, Umbria and Le Marche), there is a myriad of grape varieties and almost as many styles of red wine. The wines we’ve selected over the page are full of character – and this diversity is definitely a cause for celebration.
