1Mid-June sees the SAN GIMIGNANO MEDIEVAL FESTIVAL (Ferie Messium) take over this pretty Tuscan town. Locals celebrate their town’s past with a medieval fair, street performances, jousting knights and more. Don’t miss the ‘grand procession’ on Sunday, as more than 300 residents in costume take to the streets – a truly memorable spectacle. 14-16 June
2The LUMINARA OF SAN RANIERI is considered one of the major annual events of Pisa and the surrounding area. On the evening of 16 June thousands of candles, set in glasses and fixed onto wooden frames, light up the city’s buildings – some are even floated down the Arno. A magical sight.
