Christmas is nearly here and we’re feeling full of festive spirit in the LandLove office. We’ve packed this issue with lots of inspiring ideas to help you make the most of the season, from suggestions of where to experience a traditional Christmas (p.112), to some delicious recipes for edible gifts (p.46), as well as some gorgeous creative projects to help you make your home look really special. On page 72 you’ll find easy ways to make pretty paper decorations (great for keeping the kids busy once they’ve broken up for the holidays), while on page 84 we’ve got all creative with cookie cutters and bakeware. We also have some beautiful ideas for home-made presents that your friends and family will love (p.96). Don’t forget, a subscription to LandLove makes a brilliant Christmas gift (or a treat for yourself!) And, if you subscribe in this issue, you’ll receive a free LandLove 2017 calendar – turn to page 70 to find out more. Christmas is a time for indulgence and we’ve got some tasty new suggestions for your festive family feast – even Brussels sprout-haters will be won over by our sprout, leek and hazelnut gratin (p.56). With their starring roll in Nativity plays across the country, donkeys are synonymous with Christmas and we find out more about these adorable creatures on page 108. We also discover the best places to spot wildlife in urban areas across the country (p.90), as many creatures venture closer to our cities for the shelter they offer. Our craftsman this month is a calligrapher whose treatment of the written word is simply stunning (p.102). Talking of the written word, we visit the home of The Bard, Stratford-Upon-Avon, to discover why it makes such a perfect location for a winter city break (p.116). However you plan to spend December, I wish you a very happy Christmas and I’ll see you again in January!

LandLove celebrates a more traditional way of life and the beauty of the British countryside, its flora and fauna. It offers recipe ideas using seasonal British produce from the market, the garden and the hedgerows. It explores the most interesting places in the British Isles and rediscovers its most fascinating local customs and traditions. It includes practical advice and inspiration for those who tend the garden and love crafts, as well as celebrating the work of traditional craftsmen. Most of all it's a retreat, an escape into a better world.

I loved this magazine when it was in publication but only managed to buy 3 issues before it was discontinued. Delighted to find back copies in a digital format so thank you Pocketmags! Jacquie, Kirkintilloch, Scotland. Revisado 04 abril 2020
