Painting project

Part 1 Prepare to paint bluebells in a quintessential woodland scene, with Nina Squire

Bluebells are the perfect blue to me, or is that violet? Perhaps it’s this magical quality that keeps me fascinated in capturing them. I have found a few favourite spots for painting bluebells local to me in Dorset. It’s a magical sparkling carpet that greets you in the morning with its cool blue haze.

As the day progresses, there’s a warmth to the blue, turning them a warmer violet. From a little research, you will find there are many types of bluebells and a range of colours, from blue and pink to white.

It’s never quite as simple as you first imagine to capture a bluebell wood.
