Let's Get Crafting  |  No.117
Hello! As a youngster the nickname ‘Pebbles’
followed me around. My mum used to
fashion my hair in exactly the same style as
The Flintstones character – without the bone of
course – and there’s no denying I looked cute. Thank goodness the
colours in our eight-ball yarn kit allowed me to create our very
own cavegirl who, it has to be said, is even cuter.
Your Pixi pack features a variegated yarn in pink and purple
tones, and as you flick through this New Year issue you’ll see it in all
its glory – on the fox’s scarf (p13), on our delightful crochet
unicorn (p56), and offering a visual feast on one of Áine Marriott’s
knitted envelopes over on page 34.
Look to the right and you’ll see how the colour-changing yarn has
also been used to create a brick effect on Irene Strange’s pub. How
clever! This charming creation is part of our new crochet-along,
where we encourage you to craft your local community. I’ve seen
knitters up and down the country doing this and it’s safe to say I was
inspired, so we hope you enjoy this crochet version.
Elsewhere, deputy editor Heidi chats with Wool Couture’s Claire
Gelder (p31), we challenged you to make something with our yarns
(p42) and some of the best kits are rounded up on page 40. Plus,
editorial assistant Amy asks a big question on page 48: who taught
you to knit or crochet?
Happy New Year, everyone!
