One of the reasons why people shun performing backups is the space requirements. After all, you need enough storage room for safekeeping all your precious data. Most backup strategies result in a lot of wasted space, before being abandoned entirely, as you invariably end up making copies of the same data over and over again.
BorgBackup, or Borg, is a command-line backup utility written in Python, which uses the data deduplication technique to minimise space wastage. Borg works by comparing chunks of data to identify unique bits, and thereby only saving changes to a file since the last backup.
