MAKING THE CASE FOR Pi WAR

Why do makers make things? I’d argue it’s because they have a reason to make. Whether to turn a profit professionally, to create something for the home or just to express their artistic streak, no-one makes without a reason. This is why Tim Richardson and myself decided, back in 2013, to start Pi Wars, the robotics challenge competition for the Raspberry Pi. With seven challenges, plus technical and artistic merit to consider when building your robot, the competition gives makers that reason to embark on a project. From professional robotics makers to families who just want to give it a go, we’ve seen people truly inspired by the challenge of bringing a robot to the event. This has sparked their interest in electronics and programming and they have taken it further, in projects and in education.
