New Raspberry Pi camera launched
The £50 camera eliminates rolling shutter artefacts, the bane of digital photography!
With there being more new Pi-based camera launches than actual Pis, you’d be forgiven for thinking the Raspberry Pi Foundation has changed focus (is that a pun? – Ed) and become a camera company, but the number of new cameras just reflects how important image capture is to modern projects and machine learning.
The latest launch is the Raspberry Pi Global Shutter Camera, which moves to eliminate the annoying digital sensor issue of rolling shutter artefacts. It’s the effect that the vertical line capture used by digital sensors can cause when capturing rotating objects (often seen with aircraft rotors and fans) or objects moving fast perpendicular to the camera’s vertical axis.
