The latest Windows update, 23H2, has added Copilot to Win11. It saw a limited roll-out a few weeks ago, now it is baked into the OS. Copilot is available from the taskbar, or by keyboard shortcut (Windows key + C and replacing Cortana, which is now dead). As with ChatGPT, you can use text or voice prompts to create generative text replies or issue voice commands. Satya Nadella, Microsoft’s CEO, claims Copilot will be central to Windows, effectively becoming the new Start button. Instead of starting with an application, you’ll choose Copilot, and it will steer from there. 23H2 also brings a overhaul of File Explorer, a cloud back-up tool, upgraded Paint, and a few interface tweaks, including new ‘classic’ features for when previous features weren’t as welcome as Microsoft thought. –CL
