So much has changed recently. At both a national and individual level we are maybe not so much at a crossroads, but more a spaghetti junction of unknowns and worries. We have a new monarch, we have a new prime minister, a new cabinet, a new health secretary, an insurmountable cost of living crisis, and some might argue a professional crisis starkly exposed in the recent BBC Panorama documentary.
Like all of you, I was recently asked to vote in our union’s ballot about the government’s decision on NHS pay. I’m aware that colleagues in other unions received similar options. I can only speak to my own reaction to the request and respect that the responses of colleagues may have been different to mine. Without hesitation I stated that I did not support the government’s decision and stated that I would support industrial action.
