MARILYN MANSON ALLEGATIONS: THE STORY SO FAR
A number of women came forward with allegations of abuse against Marilyn Manson last month. As Hammer went to press, the story was still ongoing
(WARNING: the following story features details of abuse, which some readers might find distressing)
ON MONDAY FEBRUARY 1, Hollywood actor and activist Evan Rachel Wood publicly accused Marilyn Manson of abusing her during their relationship in the late 2000s. The Westworld star alleged that she was “groomed” as a teenager by Manson, before he “horrifically abused’ and “brainwashed” her.
Wood said in an Instagram post: “The name of my abuser is Brian Warner, also known to the world as Marilyn Manson. He started grooming me when I was a teenager and horrifically abused me for years. I was brainwashed and manipulated into submission. I am done living in fear of retaliation, slander, or blackmail. I am here to expose this dangerous man and call out the many industries that have enabled him, before he ruins any more lives. I stand with the many victims who will no longer be silent.”
Wood’s post was followed by several other women coming forward with their own allegations of abuse against Manson. Model Sarah McNeilly described acts of “love bombing” by the singer, detailing that “as he was wooing me I would come to find out he was torturing others. Before long I was the one being tortured.” She added that she was “emotionally abused, terrorized [sic] and scarred”, claiming that Manson locked her in rooms and forced her to listen to him “entertaining other women”.
