Archer Fine Transfers have been around for a while and are a company synonymous with high-quality products and first-class customer service. Recently the owner, Woody Vondracek, sent us examples of their new products lines. In a nutshell, their previous ranges of dry transfers and waterslide decals have been replaced by a series of new, improved decal products. Nano Film Decals are printed on a continuous clear film and have to be trimmed, but the film is extremely thin and strong. The No Clear Film (NCF) decals are the ultimate in waterslide decals. They are applied in the same manner as normal waterslide decals but have no clear carrier film and thus no chance of the dreaded ‘silvering’. Two of Archer’s strongest ranges were their flags and uniform patches. These have been transferred to their new Fabric Texture Appliqués which offer convincing scale thickness and a realistic texture. These are absolutely superb and a marked improvement on what were already excellent products. Finally, we have re-issue of their range of Resin Surface Details. These contain weld seams, rivets and casting marks in fine resin on decal film and are absolutely wonderful. Each set of the new varieties of decals contains full instructions on how to apply the different technologies. I’m looking forward to these and for someone who finds applying decals one of the more stressful parts of any modelling project, they promise to be an absolute game changer.
