Can’t Get Enough: A Tribute To Bad Company
PRIMARY WAVE MUSIC. CD/DL/LP
A spirited salute to the rough-and-tumble rockers.
Timed to coincide with the band’s induction to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Can’t Get Enough does indeed play like a celebration, particularly on the part of Paul Rodgers. The singer is all over his own tribute, harmonising with Halestorm on ShootingStar, playing with Def Leppard’s Joe Elliott and Phil Collen on Seagull, then sprinting alongside Southern rock preservationists Blackberry Smoke on Run With The Pack. His lively performances act as accents on an album that serves as a testament to the durability of his band’s songbook. These are tunes sturdy enough to not break when fumbled (Hardy’s plodding reading of Ready For Love) and flexible enough to flourish with an imaginative reinterpretation (Charley Crockett’s haunted rendition of Bad Company), a combination that keeps the tribute engaging.
