AN OBAN councillor is urging people to complain, rather than talk, about overflowing rubbish bins in the town. There has been a recurring problem with rubbish in Oban since three-weekly bin uplifts were introduced in November 2016.
At Oban Community Council’s January meeting, councillor for Oban North and Lorn Elaine Robertson pleaded with members of the community to make a formal complaint. She said: ‘We have raised it together and raised it singularly. Every time we say what’s happening, we are told there are no complaints. People are talking, but they are not putting in a formal complaint. Please, we need your backing.’
Councillor for Oban South and the Isles Roddy McCuish said: ‘I asked every area chairperson do you have a problem with your bins and they said no. So why on earth are we having them?’
