Despite Spean Bridge, Roy Bridge and Achnacarry Community Council having successfully applied to Highland Council for money to pay for food for Christmas parties and to buy small presents for the children at the nursery, this year the council has refused their application with the excuse that the recipient groups are not constituted.
Despite nothing having changed from last year, the fact that the community council is constituted and faithfully keeps all receipts for some reason hasn’t been accepted by the council. So, putting the council to shame, Spean Bridge senior citizens group has opted not to buy presents for elderly residents this year, instead agreeing to use the cash to help pay for Christmas events so that local primary and nursery youngsters don’t miss out.
