Mum-of-three Kristina Simonian waited for years to join Oban Photographic Club, following it from far away at home in Lithuania, writes Kathie Griffiths.
When she moved to Oban last year, the trained graphic designer was finally able to sign up in person. Now she is one of 12 club members exhibiting their work in Waterstone’s upstairs area. ‘I used to follow the club on Facebook when I was in Lithuania. I was so happy to physically join it when I moved here,’ she said.
Club president Graham Cameron said it was the third year of the exhibition and was popular with members who put in bids for showing space. The club has about 30 members at the moment but wants more to join. ‘The club isn’t huge but it’s certainly wonderful,’ said Mr Cameron. Other photographers showing their work include a keen gardener, a lorry driver and an architect.
