Only €4,99
We sent Simon Colbeck to Pinkneys Green to meet Joby Carter following the news that their so famous and ever so popular old tyme fair is up for sale and is on its last year of touring. He came away with the full story and some brilliant pictures at the same time.
In our news section we pay our last respects to Robert Wilson the UK’s famous Caterpillar ‘guru’ and we see the departure of The Pirate, an Aveling & Porter tractor, as it travels from East Sussex to Shropshire, where it will have a new boiler and firebox at Allison Engineering. Alan and Lynne Cullen tell us that they have cancelled the Kingsfold Rally and we meet the new manager of the Burrell Museum John Pidgeon.
NTET Steam Apprentices were out in Norfolk and we were there to see how it went for them. The FBHVC ‘Drive It Day’ on Sunday 24 April saw 250 vehicles descend on the small village of Bodle Street Green for a charity event, where Martin Nutter debuted his 1907 Stanley 20hp Roadster steam car. Our reporter was there to see the full action at this amazing event, which raised £1,600 for Prostate Cancer UK and Red Cross appeal for Ukraine Refugees.
David Vaughan has been along to see the last surviving Brighton Corporation tram No. 53 in the fleet that is gradually being rebuilt. Mike Neale takes an in-depth look at the latest diecast models on the scene and David Reed headed across the Pennines to meet Niall Byrne and Hannah Bickley and their steam roller fleet, particularly the work they have been doing on 1923 Fowler DN1 Victorious, in this part two article.
Derek Rayner has been looking in his black and white photo box and has come up with more steam buses that were working in the 1920s, made by Sentinel and Foden of course. Keith Haddock was at the HCEA Annual Convention at Concordia, Kansas. This event was the highlight in the classic plant season across the world with some wonderful old machines working.
