This issue came together following the anniversary of Charles Burney: a name that most musicians are aware of. However, some are not so aware of his work as an organist. It didn’t take long then to decide upon a featured instrument: the mostly untouched Thomas Elliot organ at Ashridge House Chapel, Hertfordshire. Lee Burgess has written a brief history of the organ
and a critique of its qualities.

To bring this issue back into the 21st century, James Dickenson explains how the church music world works in Norway and David Dewar introduces a programme from Canterbury Christ Church University which aims to
help church musicians.

The observant amongst you will notice that Postscript doesn’t appear in this issue, this is due to illness and we therefore hope that it will reappear in June.
