PART 10 Next issue: Canon night photography techniques
YOU MAY end up shooting your still life in mixed lighting – or under a light source that doesn’t quite match any of the white balance presets – which leaves the image with an odd colour cast (this is particularly true if you’re shooting with household LEDs). You could spend a while tweaking things with the camera’s white balance shift/bracket men option, but it’s just as easy to place a piece of white card or paper in your still-life setup and take a shot, then use that to set a custom white balance on the camera. If you shoot Raw, you can click on the white area with your software’s white balance eyedropper tool, and copy that setting to your main image.
