Pipe lines
Sir,
I started playing bagpipes when I was nine years old. I am now eighty-seven and I am still playing them.
It was with great delight that I saw your cartoon on page 37 of your recent issue. Many of your readers may not appreciate how tranquil the bagpipes are. I have many married fellow pipers who often tell me that when they get their pipes out of the case and start tuning them, their wives rush to go to bed to languish in what can only be called tranquillity. This is particularly the case if the tune is a piobaireachd which can last for up to fifteen minutes and almost spells out the word peace. Thank you so much for raising the profile of this beloved instrument.
