‘DON’ T PRIVATISE NR’ SAYS LABOUR
Shadow Transport Secretary Lilian Greenwood has urged the Government to rule out any plans to privatise Network Rail. She warns that such a move would mean a return to the “dark days of Railtrack when passengers’ safety was endangered and the network ground to a halt”. Nicola Shaw’s ongoing review into the structure of NR and rail industry financing has already identified full privatisation as a possibility, and is currently seeking responses to a series of proposed outcomes prior to the publication of its final recommendations, expected before Chancellor George Osborne’s next Budget on March 16.
