GROUNDED: STRUCTURAL DEFECTS FOR HEATHROW 332
Heathrow express (Hex) withdrew its fleet of 14 Class 332 electric multiple units in late February, after finding structural defects on the underside of a carriage. on March 1st, the operator said its fleet had been taken “out of service for the foreseeable future”, to maintain a service between Paddington and Heathrow airport, Hex drafted in the five five car Class 360 eMUs usually employed on Heathrow Connect stopping services. Great western railway increased the number of its trains calling at intermediate stations between Paddington and Hayes and Harlington to compensate for the switch of Class 360s.
