Retro Cars Magazine No.69 Maestro Please Edición anterior

4 Reseñas   •  English   •   Aviation & Transport (Automotive)
Busy times here this month, we’ve had a trackday to organise and an entirely new event at Rockingham to sort (see page 16). Feedback from you guys is that you want to get out and about in 2014 and we’re making that easier, with some more retro/classic events to add to your calendar. In addition, I’ve noticed a massive lack - in the East Anglia region - of car shows and events and wanted to address this, nothing to do with the fact I live here of course! Sorting shows aside, there have been a few to
attend recently too. Autosport seems like a long time ago now but the traditional season opener is always an outstanding day out for any petrolhead, though this year did feel a bit thinner than usual. Hopefully not a trend that’s increasing with the economic downturn still lingering on… By the time you read this, Race Retro will be upon us (today in fact! February 21-23) and will once again showcase some of the greatest
gravel-going giants of international rallying folklore. We will be there at Stoneleigh Park in the thick of it! In celebration of the Metro 6R4’s anniversary, I’m even strapping myself into the co-driver’s seat to experience Group B performance first hand! I’m terrified and excited
in equal measure and will (hopefully) give you an insight into the experience next month. As for this month, we’ve got a bevy of retro
beauties for you, chief among them has to be the simply awe-inspiring GTD40. No it’s not a diesel, but an extremely well put together (road going) replica of surely one of the most famous racing machines ever made. The GT40, and in particular the late ‘sixties Gulf-liveried cars, have entered the collective souls of petrolheads the world over. With good reason as the Ford Le Mans venture went from a joke at first to
its culmination with back to back victories in ’68-’69.
