The Henley Royal Regatta’s boat tent area was unrecognisable in the New Year as the River Thames overflowed and fully submerged large parts of the riverbank. Many rowers, including Great Britain’s national team athletes in Caversham and Leander Club’s aspiring internationals in Henley, endured a prolonged stint of land training while the river remained unrowable for weeks.
