ONE of the things you can’t coach is pace and I was very fortunate to have that in my locker. In my youth, I competed at county level at 100m and 200m and I had a PB of 10.97. But it wasn’t until I got to Worcester that I started to develop other aspects of my game and become a more rounded player.
I started off at Wasps when they were European champions. I was at Loughborough University and coming down twice a week to play with the U21s and eventually got offered a contract, which was unbelievable. Being in the squad photo with all the big boys around me is something I will always remember and I quickly realised where I was in the pecking order.
