Toy Soldier & Model Figure  |  Issue 201
Welcome to the February 2015 issue of TS&MF!
This issue includes James H. Hillestad’s look at some unique traditions of the British Army’s Gloucestershire, Border and Suffolk Regiments. Jim examines the history behind the units and their customs.
Editor, Stuart A. Hessney shares an article titled “Being Barrett Proud.” It recounts how a seven-week manhunt for an alleged cop killer literally came to the doorstep of Jim’s U.S. museum in Pennsylvania’s Pocono Mountains. Fortunately, the manhunt ended with the suspect’s arrest not far from Jim’s place -- just before his museum’s autumn open house Nov. 1, 2014.
Elsewhere, Stuart shines a spotlight on a toy figure range based on characters created by Charles Dickens. King & Country Ltd. is revisiting the “World of Dickens” to produce a very special series of toy figures and building facades for collectors.
In “The Real Col. Monro,” Curtis Sleight separates fact from fiction to uncover the true story of the British officer who commanded besieged Fort William Henry during the French and Indian War 258 years ago. Lt. Col. George Monro’s was the key character in James Fenimore Cooper’s novel “The Last of the Mohicans”.
As usual, there’s lots more in store in this edition, so please start turning the pages, enjoy and, as always, happy collecting!
