In Kenya on 19 March 2018, the world’s last male northern white rhino died. Two female rhino remain under heavy armed protection at Ol Pejeta Conservancy in Kenya, but without a male to sustain the species, northern white rhino are functionally extinct. Sadly, many other African species may soon follow.
