When leading poetry workshops and/or classes I am often asked to set a theme for students to write a poem about. Over the years I have given various themes but have now thought of a new one, so this will be an original idea for readers of Writing Magazine.
Sometimes I have suggested a title or a line which can be the opening line or it may be placed somewhere in any line of the poem you write. This time the line given to write about is ‘The first day’.
