A gift for writers with a comic bent, Splitsider is a website ‘about comedy and the people who create it’. Work published there ‘covers movies, TV shows, web videos, books and any other format that exists to make you laugh.’
The joint editors welcome submissions of pitches for features. Make sure the pitch is clear, concise and to the point and will run over 700 words. What the team want is ‘in-depth researched and reported features.’ They also like features on ‘fascinating comedic obscurities, current trends in comedy, comedy history that’s tied to today, and new forms of comedy.’ Show the editors that the feature is the result of good research, interviews with sources, ‘and backing up assertions with facts’. Opinion pieces need to be current and ‘have a very strong angle’. Email non-fiction subs to: adam@splitsider.com
If you’re looking to submit a piece of humour writing to The Humour Section, submit the work directly to editor Brian Boone: splitsiderhumorsection@gmail.com
