Mslexia is inviting entries for the Women‘s Poetry Competition 2017 and the Women‘s Pamphlet Competition 2017.
• The Women‘s Poetry Competition 2017 has a first prize of £2,000 with optional extras of a week‘s writing retreat at Cove Park in Scotland and a mentoring session with Amy Wack, poetry editor at Seren Books. There is a second prize of £400, a third prize of £200 and seventeen finalists will each win £25. There is also a special prize of £500 for the best poem by a previously unpublished woman poet. The judge is Sinéad Morrissey.
Poems may be in any style, on any subject and of any length. All poems must be original and unpublished. Type poems on single sides of A4, including a title. The writer‘s name must not appear on the manuscript. Include a separate cover sheet with full contact details and the titles of all poems being submitted. To be considered for the unpublished poets prize, poets should mark their cover page with a large U above their name. In this context ‘unpublished ‘ means that a poet has not had a poem selected for publication by a selective independent editorial process, either in print or online.
