Are you trying to workshop your poems? It may be painful to change some words or perhaps remove one, but it is sometimes necessary to do this. Possibly you may change some words as you go along, reading a line as you complete it.
Another method is to finish the poem as best you can and put it out of sight for a day or two. When you read it again read it aloud – every line. You will immediately hear where a word is too long. Perhaps you have used too many syllables in this line?
Or, you might have a rhyme in the first few lines and then discarded it further along in the poem. This, if done well, can improve the sense of those lines. However, if when you read the lines back you find that the rhyme is intrusive, then either cut it or change the rhyme.
