Yes & No is a new quarterly magazine that embraces today’s new realites, holding up a cultural mirror to reflect the eclectic yet fragile world while rigorously asking: What? How? Why? Where?

YES & NO represents a defiant movement against the certainties that increasingly divide us. Contained within its beautifully designed pages — in digital and print — it speaks to like-minded people who are increasingly dismayed by the stark choices that have defined the political landscape in recent years. The content-rich quarterly magazine is made for people who believe in a more fluid, creative approach — for people who see value in exploring life from all angles and who embrace a multiple range of solutions to the task of navigating the modern world. YES & NO is tolerant, exploratory, curious and promotes a stimulating mixture of science, art and culture for our times. It is designed to raise questions than to provide answers. It’s a companion for the modern world — a manifesto for anyone who embraces life’s complexities rather than confining it within the parameters of either yes or no

Yes & No Magazine

Issue 02:03 Cover Story features American photojournalist Lynsey Addario in conversation with YES & NO editor Cassius Matthias. Pulitzer Prize Winning Addario is one of the most renowned war photographers working today. The Centrefold Artist is New York-based, Israeli-born Uri Aran’s ‘Tenants Like These’. This issue’s Back Cover is by British artist Scott King, ‘A Balloon for America: Detroit’. This year the Bolshoi Drama Theatre, St Petersburg, celebrates its 100th anniversary. The theatre is introduced to us by Svetlana Shchagina with photographs by regular YES & NO contributor Brigitte Lacombe. ‘The Cognitive Basis of Computation’ challenges the notion that humans are merely sophisticated robots and raises questions about how we think we know about the things we think we know and understand. In ‘Michelangelo Antonioni: Punctuating the Photograph with Time and Space’ James Evans writes about Antonioni’s approach to the photographic medium. Fetured artists in this issue include: Brits NEW NOVETA, ‘Tout Va Bien’ photographed by Georgie LaChapelle; LA-born Eric Wesley, ‘Reputation’; and German-born Florian Hecker ‘SynAsTex Korrektur’. In this instalment of Moog GIANTS, we meet pioneer Herb Deutsch, the man who in 1964, invented the first ever Moog Synthesiser with Bob Moog. In ‘Sound Organised in Time’ Deutsch connects the past with the present and narrates the historic collaboration that changed the course - and the sound - of music. In ‘Marking the Spot with Ex’ Swedish poet Johanna Ekström returns to YES & NO with friends, including Roy Brand, Simon Woods, and Sigrid Rausing. In ‘Every Expedition Needs an Irishman’ Explorer Mark Wood and Diver Rory Golden talk about climbing to the heights of Everest and diving to the depths of the Titanic. The Seasonal Menu is by Anne-Sophie Pic, one of the most decorated female chefs in the world.
