Airports of the World Magazine November-December 2018 Back Issue

English
61 Reviews   •  English   •   Aviation & Transport (Aviation)
The November/December issue of Airports of the World is an extended edition and includes a free 16-page World’s Top 40 Airports Guide. We visit Budapest/Ferenc Liszt which, since the demise of Hungarian flag carrier Malév, has moved on from this painful period and is now forging ahead with upgrades and expansion programmes. We shine the spotlight on Addis Ababa/Bole International, which is improving its infrastructure to meet the challenge of passenger traffic tripling over the last seven years. We also travel to San Sebastián on the Spanish/French border to discover the important role the airport plays in the tourist industry here.

Elsewhere in this edition, we go on duty with Manchester Airport’s Fire and Rescue Service’s Red Watch to find out what happens behind the big red doors and we hear how Launceston Airport, the self-styled ‘brand champion of Tasmania’ is preparing for the future. We travel to Memphis to find out how the Tennessee Airport has bounced back following the withdrawal of Delta Air Lines in 2012 and we explore the potential of the under-used Žilina Airport, one of Slovakia’s best-kept secrets. Plus, we visit one of Thailand’s picturesque airports, Samui, arguably situated in one of the most exotic locations in the world.

Lastly, we bring you our comprehensive coverage of worldwide news, including JFK reveals a two-terminal revamp, APD in the firing line, Liverpool welcomes a Nordic connection and expansion at Leeds Bradford. We also have our regular section covering UK visitors as well as part two of our snapshot celebrating the 80th anniversary of Manchester Airport, a spotting spot from Buenos Aires’ busy downtown facility Aeroparque as well as a look back to the early 1970s and the operations at Rio de Janeiro’s two main airports.
