A pop of color can enhance a predominately white space. This blue antique bathtub acts as a focal point in the bathroom and complements the soft blue wallpaper, while the white shower walls and ceiling keep the space open and light.

In this kitchen, the shiplap walls are smooth, the ceiling has a recessed linear pattern and the antique table has a worn, rustic feel. This prevents the elements of the room from blending together too much. “The varying shades, textures and patinas provide a rich layered canvas as the backdrop,” writes author Chrissie Rucker. And the curtain-free windows allow the outdoor scenery to play a part in the interior décor, adding a touch of greenery to the space.
