ESTABLISHING a new department at one of the powerhouses of the UK auctions scene could be a daunting prospect, but it helps if you have plenty of experience.
Ned Cowell is in that happy position as he looks ahead to October 19 – the inaugural Arms & Armour, Medals & Coins sale he is organising for Woolley & Wallis of Salisbury.
He started out working as a porter at a Wiltshire auction house before what became a 14-year stint as a specialist at George Kidner in Lymington, Hampshire. He held his first sale in 2005.
