Among the exhibitors at Paris Photo specialising in works from the 19th century is UK dealer Robert Hershkowitz. As well as the usual selection of early British and French examples, this year he features a focus on the photographs of Adrien Tournachon.
The younger brother of the famous photographer Nadar, Tournachon is today best known for the striking photographic portraits he produced in the 1850s to illustrate Dr Duchenne de Boulogne’s work on the mechanism of human facial expressions.
