This Thomas Sidney Cooper (1803- 1902) cattle landscape, pictured below, resurfaced at an auction in Leominster after a century in the same collection.
Offered at Brightwells (22% buyer’s premium) on March 20, the 14 x 18in (35.5 x 45.5cm) oil on panel showing a typical Cooper scene of farm animals in a meadow, had remained in the same family since it was purchased for the princely sum of £135 (then around £14,000) from the Bristol gallery of Frost & Reed in 1914.
